Hello!

Welcome to my blog!

My name is Amanda, and I'm Your Average Afrolatina. My parents were born in Dominican Republic. I was born in the United States. I speak Spanish and English. I was raised Seventh-Day Adventist. I have a Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I'm married to a Haitian. I've never eaten a chimi. I relaxed my hair from ages 10-16. I love lipstick. I'm five feet tall. I didn't listen to Celia Cruz growing up. I consider my skin tone to be something along the lines of dulce de leche ...

Wait ... that doesn't sound like a description of you?

You're right. The "average" afrolatina doesn't exist, but this blog is just my way of sharing my unique journey throughout life as one, as it may or may not relate to Latinidad or Afrolatinidad. Here I will share my thoughts, my cool findings, and maybe some cool people!
